The Voiceover Insider Podcast

The Voiceover Insider Podcast first aired in 2014, and was an offshoot of an online magazine, The Voiceover Insider, published by Julie Williams between 2007 and 2014. “As technology advanced, the podcast became a better way to distribute timely information, and it took a lot less effort to produce each episode,” said Gary MacFadden, who edited the online magazine between 2011 and 2014. This was an important factor, because both the magazine and the podcast were produced without the support of any paid staff.

The Voiceover Insider podcast went on a hiatus in 2018, again due to time constraints. In the summer of 2020, Julie and Gary decided to “reboot” the podcast. still focusing on topics of importance to both “newbie” voice talent, as well as those who have been in the business for years.

“A constant in the production of first the online magazine and then the podcast is that the voiceover industry, unlike nearly any other industry I can think of, is populated with people who are eager and willing to share information, be it technical information, performance techniques, or business and marketing strategies,” Gary said.

Julie adds, “Every two weeks we’ll strive to bring knowledgeable people onto the podcast as guests to discuss topics central to voiceover. Those who have topics they would like to hear discussed on the podcast can post them at the ‘sister’ Facebook page: The VoiceOver Insider Connect.”
