Shana Pennington-Baird is the director of the Seattle Voice Institute and a voiceover artist. Eighteen years ago, Shana ‘bent’ her vocal cords after performing for six shows consecutively without a break and teaching kids theater during the day. For six weeks she did not speak; for nine months she did not sing. After healing without any kind of surgery, Shana has gone on to a long career in audiobooks, promo, commercial VO, eLearning, musical theatre, and teaching vocal health. Shana trains people from all walks of life to breathe properly, warm up, and keep their voices healthy for life. Julie Williams talks to Shana about protecting your voice, no matter how long or difficult your sessions are.
